Why Halloween?

Building Memories

We understand that many parents, guardians, and caregivers need assistance building positive and lasting memories for the children they love so dearly. We also understand that Halloween, while often ranked as a favorite holiday for children, is consistently overlooked as a time of giving. 10/31 Consortium is actively closing that gap and shining a light on the charitable giving opportunities that Halloween provides.  Please click the appropriate box below to give a costume, get a costume, or sponsor a child for Halloween.

Who We Are

What is 10/31 Consortium?

10/31 Consortium is a 100% volunteer-run organization and krewe; all who serve do so because they have a heart for children and a love of Halloween. We are a creative, caring and fun group of people who enjoy this unique way of giving back. 10/31 Consortium isn’t just a Halloween krewe. Our purpose goes much deeper and the relationships we build are strengthened through our joint vision of community, courage and creativity.

Programs

The Heart of Halloween

Giving kids a safe and happy Halloween is more complex than it may seem. There are many layers to such an endeavor which is why we have created the following programs to ensure our long-term success:

Events where neighbors can meet and informally interact have become even more important in recent years with technological advances. We no longer see our neighbors in the local market because we do our shopping online. We no longer chat over the fence because we chat on social media. This creates a lack of community and goodwill, and reinforces the notion that we stand alone rather than together. We believe that community events, such as Trick or Treat, help to strengthen neighborhoods.

Let us help your neighborhood revitalize the community tradition of Trick or Treat.

All sizes of new and gently used Halloween costumes and individually wrapped and bagged candy can be donated during our Costume and Candy Drive from September 1 until Costume Giveaway Day in early-mid October.

Give a costume, get a costume, or sponsor a child at FreeCostumes.com.

We would be remiss not to consider children hospitalized at Halloween.

We are here to help ease the necessary heartache of missing Trick or Treat and often not being allowed candy on Halloween. See the list of needed items HERE.

Teaching children the importance of helping others is a vital component of our long-term vision.

The 10/31 Consortium Kids’ Court Youth Leadership and Volunteer Program was created in 2018. This program, for children age 6 to senior in high school, teaches valuable lessons in organization, compassion and public speaking.

Participating children are also the selection pool to receive the honors of Fifolet Halloween Festival Prince, Princess and Royal Page.

Recognizing the efforts of others that actively improve our shared community supports our vision of safe neighborhoods for all children. To that end, awards were created that follow the ideals of our motto: Saundra Lane Community Award, Corey Tullier Courage Award and Dwayne Sanburn Creativity Award.

10/31 Consortium also recognizes its members with significant contributions to the organizations with  the Lance Parker Spirit Award, the Jamie Schexnayder Behind the Scenes Award, and the Kelley Stein Supreme Award.
