About Kids and Creativity at the Fifolet Halloween Festival

 

Dear Friends,

 

At the heart of Halloween lies the spark of imagination,  the joy of dressing up, stepping into a story, and watching fantasy come to life. The Fifolet Halloween Festival was created in celebration of that magic. It is a place where creativity is celebrated, where costumes become art, and where community comes together. We believe Halloween is for everyone,  for anyone who loves it, from near or far, from toddlers to teens to adults still young at heart.

 

Halloween is a celebration of artistic freedom and we don’t believe in limiting that spirit. There is no review or censorship process for costumes, performances, or music. However, our parade rules do ask all participants to keep things family-friendly, and all float groups and performers agree to those expectations when they register. We do not, however, police costumes or conduct, and attendees should be prepared for a variety of Halloween expressions from silly to spooky to surreal.

 

To help families prepare, we invite you to browse videos from past events on our BR Boo Tube YouTube channel. These clips offer a helpful preview of what to expect and can go a long way in preparing your little ones, especially those who are new to Halloween.

 

If your child feels uneasy about a costume or character they see, it can be a great opportunity to redirect their focus and encourage curiosity:

• “Let’s guess how they made those spooky eyes. Is it makeup or a mask?”

• “Want to make up a silly voice that costume might have?”

• “Can you spot the person’s real shoes under that outfit?”

 

By encouraging children to understand that costumes are made from paint, fabric, and imagination, we can help shift fear into fascination and fun.
