10/31 Consortium Hosts Annual Costume and Candy Drive to Benefit Local Children – Costume Giveaway Days Set for October 19 in Donaldsonville and October 20 in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA — 10/31 Consortium, a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit, is excited to announce its annual Costume and Candy Drive, with more than 30 drop-off locations across the Greater Baton Rouge Area. The drive will run until October 18, collecting new and gently used Halloween costumes and store-bought, individually wrapped candy.

Collected costumes will be distributed free of charge to children in need during two Costume Giveaway Days. The first event will occur on October 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the WAG Center in Donaldsonville (1201 Maginnis Street), and the second on October 20 at 3 p.m. at the Goodwood Library in Baton Rouge (7711 Goodwood Boulevard). Families are encouraged to arrive early, as the need is great, and supplies are limited.

10/31 Consortium’s charitable programs have experienced rapid growth and expansion thanks to the generous support of the Greater Baton Rouge Community, including a recent $20,000 anonymous donation. “This was truly a transformational gift to the 10/31 Consortium and will help us better serve the children of Baton Rouge and beyond,” said Corey Tullier, President of the 10/31 Consortium. Additionally, the 10/31 Consortium partnered with the Ultimate Party Store of Denham Springs to obtain over 350 costumes for the charity at a significant discount. This support, along with the dedication of other donors and volunteers, has helped expand the reach of the organization’s mission to give children a safe and happy Halloween.

The average cost of a Halloween costume is $45, according to Coupon Cabin, making this holiday an overwhelming expense for many families, especially those with multiple children. 10/31 Consortium seeks to relieve that burden by ensuring that all children can participate in the fun of Halloween. During the Giveaway Days, each family will be paired with a volunteer to help them select from the available costumes, and every family will leave with a bag of candy to distribute on Halloween night.

“Halloween is such a special and creative time for kids, and it’s really heartwarming to help parents create those cherished memories for them,” said Lance Martin, Programs Co-Chair for 10/31 Consortium.
