Let’s Get Lost Together
It’s hard to believe that we are three full months into 2015! It has been packed full of preparing, planning, and partying. We’ve already got the majority of our 2015 calendar set, the big details are in place, and we had one rocking float in the Spanish Town Parade. It’s been a great way to start my year as your president.
That being said, I’m truly thankful for the pause and peace offered to us through the Season of Lent. Lent is not only the season to sacrifice, but also to serve. I’ve always believed that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Therefore, as we approach the end of the Lenten season, I ask you to reflect on the true meaning of our motto “Community Courage Creativity”. Each of these concepts alone are pretty simple and straight forward, but together something truly wonderful and grand can emerge! Add in a little wicked and spooky, and you’ve got something like 10/31 Consortium.
I’m sure that you’ve heard our slogan “more than a parade”. It is true. I take pride in being involved with an organization that works to benefit and better our community. We work hard with passion and revelry, and usually in a costume. I’m proud to be a member and honored to serve your as president. The opportunities and challenges I’ve been given thus far have been blessings. I’ve already become a more involved and informed citizen of Baton Rouge, all while being given an outlet for my creativity. And God willing, I will conquer my fear of public speaking and blog writing!
I invite you all to get more involved. Check out our website www.1031consortium.com. Follow us on Facebook. Like and share our posts and photos. Check out our calendar of events. Nominate someone deserving in our community for one of our Special Awards. There are so many ways to get involved!
I hope you will all come join us, where we celebrate your efforts and put you in a parade!
Thank you for reading and thank you for your support!
