More Fun. Always.

On January 1, 2013, I officially took over as your Board President. In spite of the fact that I have already served 2 years on the Board, I can assure you I did not take this transition lightly, nor did I find it any less daunting. Our founder, and immediate past president, Kelley Criscoe Stein, took her dream and made a parade. In just two years, she’s doubled the membership, doubled our parade route and consequently our crowds, and doubled our

Halfoween

Tomorrow, May 1st, marks the recently declared “holiday” of Halfoween – the annual half way mark to Halloween. I’m sure this is no surprise, but this new additional way to celebrate the most wicked day of the year is something I’m pretty jazzed about.   For those of you unfamiliar with this springtime treat, check out the full description from Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=halfoween). Resolutions

Believe in something unbelievable.   Be less concerned with the opinions of others and more concerned with my own.   Be more affectionate with my loved ones.   Be more considerate of others.   Be more patient with my son.   Be more thankful.   Be on time for work at least 3 days a week.   Be realistic.   Fight less with my mother and sister.   Find the good in people.   Get healthy.   Get organized.

Gratitude

Having just celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday, it seems fitting to begin by reflecting on the things for which I am most grateful. The obvious things come to mind: family, friends, and health. In today's economy, I'm sure a lot of people like me are thankful for employment. On the other end of the spectrum, I'm sure many are thankful for their last meal. It's easy to let life get in the way and consequently take life for granted. Missing the forest for

Scarecrow

The scarecrow is one of the most iconic harvest images. Just thinking of the word "harvest" brings to mind images of fields of corn, farm houses, barns, and yes, scarecrows. His purpose is to, well, scare the crows away. Crows... those flying thieves of crops our farmers work so hard to produce. Living in the city, we don't get to see these images too often, however we do have our fair share of "scarecrows" and "crows."   The word "harvest"

Confidence

Last year at about this time, I got a birthday card in the mail from a very good friend of mine. The card had a Thoreau quote written on it:   “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.”   As birthday cards often are, the card was very appropriately timed. However, this one was more timely than usual.   When I received the card, I was a week shy of the first 10/31 Consortium meeting and, honestly,
