Baton Rouge Halloween Parade

The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank leads this “parade with a purpose” and actively takes non-perishable food donations straight from the crowd. Parading krewes, dancers and bands entertain the crowd with incredible costumes and candy throws. The Baton Rouge Halloween Parade is a major fundraiser for 10/31 Consortium. Proceeds from the parade help further our initiatives of creating a safe and happy Halloween for the children in our community.
Spectators and parade participants alike are encouraged to create a Fundraising Team to help raise money for 10/31 Consortium. The Fundraising Teams that raise the most money will be recognized at the Royalty Brunch on Sunday, October 29, 2017. Donate to the cause or create a Fundraising Team HERE.
The Halloween Parade theme, grand marshal, king and queen will be announced at the Black and Orange Bash on Saturday, July 29, 2017.

There are many ways to participate in the parade. These consist of a variety of krewe and unit types. A krewe is a group of people who want to be in the parade together for whatever reason. A unit is the physical entry, like a float or walking group. Registration prices vary depending on your krewe and unit types.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS – All mail-in payments must be postmarked by Monday, October 16, 2017. Mail checks to 10/31 Consortium, 9655 Perkins Road, Suite C-1031, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
No Krewe? No problem! Register as an Individual Walker for $15. Individual Walkers must dress according to categories as they will be grouped together with other Individual Walkers to form the semblance of a Walking Unit. This is a great way to make new friends and start your own krewe next year!

STARTING A KREWE IN 5 STEPS
Step 1: People. A krewe generally requires around 20 people, one of whom must serve as the krewe captain. The captain manages and organizes the krewe.
Step 2: Unit. Decide as a krewe what type of unit you would like to have in the parade. See the Unit List for more info. This will determine how much your entry will cost.
Step 3: Plan. Determine your krewe theme. This can be in line with the parade theme or it can be something different; however, all krewe themes must be Halloween related. All krewe members should dress according to your krewe theme and your unit should be decorated to this theme if applicable. Schedule costume making and unit decorating days. Schedule days to make your very own custom throws or to go shopping for them together. Have fun and get creative as a krewe! (Parade day is long, so definitely plan food and drinks.)
Step 4: Register. Don’t forget to register your krewe! The deadline to register is Friday, October 20 at noon and the deadline to pay is Sunday, October 22 at the Mandatory Safety Meeting. Don’t forget to read the Rules and Regulations prior to registering!
Step 5: Roll! Gather your krewe and roll with the rest of the parade on Saturday, October 28 in Downtown Baton Rouge! Laissez le BOO temps rouler!
