Halloween is Around the Corner!
I would like to begin by thanking everyone who came out to our Annual Membership Meeting. We went over a lot of information about our upcoming events, listed out our immediate needs and reviewed some organizational changes to our website. Queen Meredith and Prince Wesley were also able to crown the newest members of our KIDS’ COURT YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: Baron Ja’Kaden Simmons (not pictured) and Baroness Autumn Gautreau. Ja’Kaden and Autumn will represent the BIG BUDDY PROGRAM on the 2018 Kids’ Court. Congratulations to them both! Thank you to TERESA ALVAREZ PHOTOGRAPHY for capturing this special moment.
The start of a new school year is our sign that Halloween is right around the corner. With that comes a frenzy of community events we participate in to promote our COSTUME AND CANDY DRIVE as well as the FIFOLET HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL. It is now officially our busy season and we could certainly use your help if you are able. Please check out our STANDARD CALENDAR to see how you can help us with our ongoing community efforts.
In the coming weeks, we will begin our annual Costume and Candy Drive. This is a massive undertaking that will directly benefit hundreds of children. Please let us know if you’d like to be involved. There are many ways you can help:
–Host a COSTUME DRIVE at your place of employment;
–Coordinate a costume drive with your child’s school;
–Pick up costumes when donation boxes get full;
–Help us sort, match and organize costumes (two opportunities – DAY ONE, DAY TWO);
I am also pleased to inform you all that we will be working with 2 new neighborhoods this year as part of our TRICK OR TREAT ASSISTANCE program. We will continue to provide costumes and candy to MELROSE PLACE, however we will also help the BONAIR and BROADMOOR subdivisions. Bonair is a smaller neighborhood that we will help plan a Halloween party rather than traditional Trick or Treat. Broadmoor is a very large subdivision; they have reached out to us for assistance with inspiring participation in their Trick or Treat event. Both Bonair and Broadmoor have indicated that communication with other residents is their biggest challenge. Please CONTACT US if you are interested in helping these neighborhoods provide safe and fun Halloween activities for their children.
Our September member event is right around the corner. We hope to see you all at the SHIVER ME TIMBERS PIRATE SCAVENGER HUNT! This is a fun event that brings much attention on our group. Special thanks to Amy LeBlanc for chairing the event for us.
Lastly, with Halloween upon us, now is a good time to review your email settings and make sure you are following all of our social profiles. Please take a moment to review the following so that you will be kept fully informed of all of our news and events:
This Copy Cat e-newsletter is sent roughly once a month. This details our ongoing community efforts and various volunteer opportunities, as well as our STANDARD CALENDAR. However, there are many ways to keep up with us between emails:
In addition to the charitable aspect of 10/31 Consortium, we also plan the FIFOLET HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL. If you would like to keep up with information on the festival, please also review:
Thank you, again, for membership in Friends of 10/31 Consortium! Together, we will continue to serve the Baton Rouge community through the fun and creativity of Halloween!
