And so it begins…

Wow, it’s already mid-September. To say that we are BUSY would be a huge understatement, but it is so rewarding and fun. Our Costume and Candy Drive is well underway thanks to the Kids’ Court Youth Leadership and Volunteer Program. We’ve had a tremendous response so far and are anticipating receiving more costumes than ever before. Thank you all so much for your support with this effort! We hope you will be able to swing by one of our many costume and candy drop off points to make a donation and thank them for their support with your business. We could not do this without our community partners and truly thank them all for their participation.

 

All of the costumes collected will first go to our friends at the Big Buddy Program and the Melrose Place Subdivision. After that, all remaining costumes will be given away for FREE to any child who needs one at our Costume Giveaway Day. Preparation for this day is extensive with 2 days of sorting and organizing costumes, matching them to Big Buddy and Melrose Place, and then packing up the rest to go to the Giveaway venue. We could certainly use your help and encourage your children to participate as well. Please let us know if you’d like to help by emailing us for details.

 

At the Annual Member Meeting in July, we did a call for 2019/20 board nominations. We received just enough nominees to fill our board positions so no vote by the general membership is required. Those assuming board positions will begin their 2 year term on November 1. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming your new board members: Bambi Pizzolato (President), Kelley Stein, Roxanne Leachman, Elizabeth Perry, Bridgit Didier, Tina Mancuso, Larry Scrubbs, Terry La Buff, Ann Krevolt, and Chad Ross. We are so happy to have you join us! Cycling off of the board on October 31 are Jennifer Chick, Todd McCoy, Brien Buxton, and Melanie McHenry. It should be noted that both Jennifer and Todd are inaugural board members and have given valuable service to the organization every year since 2010; we will miss them so much! Thank you all for your service and dedication to 10/31 Consortium!

The Shiver Me Timbers Pirate Scavenger Hunt is tomorrow night! Many thanks to Amy LeBlanc for putting the event together and to The Station for hosting us again. This is such a fun (FREE) event that also brings a lot of social media attention to our cause so we hope you will join us. There are many other events coming up on our Standard Calendar and, of course, the Fifolet Halloween Festival is just weeks away.
