IMPORTANT:

Please note that our intentions are to have a traditional parade in 2021. We will, however, host another reverse parade if a traditional parade is not possible or allowed. All fees collected for the traditional parade participation will be applied to reverse parade participation in the event that change needs to occur. No refunds will be made.

What is the fifolet? The fifolet is part of Cajun folklore. 10/31 Consortium Founder Corey Tullier explains more HERE.

Who puts on the festival? 10/31 Consortium plans the Fifolet Halloween Festival as part of their ongoing mission to give the children of our area a safe and happy Halloween.

Where can I stay? Baton Rouge has many wonderful hotels and restaurants available. If you’re looking for something close to all of the festival action, we suggest a hotel in the downtown area. Go to Visit Baton Rouge for hotel and restaurant information.

How can I become involved? Anyone can help with the festival and volunteers are always needed. Please contact Volunteer@1031Consortium.com to join a committee.

What is included in the Festival All Access Pass? 1 (one) ticket for the Fifolet Pub Crawl, 1 (one) Fifolet 5k registration in the Pumpkin Category, 1 (one) seated ticket to the Fifolet Gala, 1 (one) ticket to the Fifolet Awards Brunch, 1 (one) spot on 10/31 Consortium Float in the Fifolet Halloween Parade.

What happens if it rains? All festival events will go on rain or shine. If the event is canceled or rescheduled by the City of Baton Rouge, or if you can no longer fulfill your obligation to participate, all funds collected will be considered a donation to 10/31 Consortium, which is a 501c3 non-profit organization and therefore all donations are tax-deductible.

Can I get a refund if I can no longer attend? No, we do not issue refunds. You may sell your passes to someone else but please inform us if you do.

How can I become Fifolet Halloween Festival royalty? The titles of King and Queen are awarded to outstanding volunteers of 10/31 Consortium by the Board of Directors. You must be a member at the Full or Forever Moon level to be considered for royalty.

How can my child become the Prince or Princess of the festival? All children are welcome to join the Kids’ Court Youth Leadership and Volunteer Program which is the selection pool for Prince and Princess.

What should I wear? The attire is costume or creative formal.

Can children attend? No, you must be 21 years old to attend the Fifolet Gala.

What entertainment can I expect? The gala is a large and creative Halloween party. Entertainment includes music and dancing in addition to the incredibly creative costumes and decorations. Guests can expect a large silent auction, a raffle, and other fundraising activities throughout the night. There is also a costume contest and a table decorating contest.

Which organization does the gala benefit? The Fifolet Gala is a major fundraiser for 10/31 Consortium. Find out more about what we do HERE.

Where is the gala held? The location changes from year to year based on market availability.

When is the gala held? The date changes from year to year based on the LSU Football schedule.

How can I get tickets? Tickets are sold at Fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium Krewe Members at the Full and Forever Moon Levels will receive a 20% discount on tickets.

Can I buy individual seats or do I have to buy a whole table? If you plan to attend with friends it is advised to go in together on a table of 10. Individual seats are sold, however, they are assigned randomly and they are highly limited.

What is a Table Captain? The Table Captain is the point of contact for the gala planners. All gala information will be given to the Table Captain for dissemination to the remainder of the table’s guests. The Table Captain should provide their email address and cell phone number at checkout.

What are the costume contest categories? Funniest, Scariest, Best Theme Representation, Best Couple, and Best Group

Are there any decor restrictions for the Table Decorating Contest? Yes. Glitter, confetti, fire, fog machines, and bubble machines are not allowed.

When will the contest winners be notified? Winners will be notified that night and will receive their trophies at the Fifolet Awards Brunch. Any winners who cannot attend the brunch should make arrangements to pick up their trophies. 

What should I wear? Your best zombie costume!

Can children attend? No, you must be 21 years old to attend the Fifolet Pub Crawl.

What can I expect? All zombies will receive a souvenir cup at check-in. This cup will get you one complimentary alcoholic beverage at each bar on the crawl route. Zombies will horde together from bar to bar.

Which organization does the pub crawl benefit? The Fifolet Pub Crawl is a major fundraiser for 10/31 Consortium. Find out more about what we do HERE.

Where is the pub crawl held? The participating locations change from year to year based on market availability, however, the pub crawl is always in Downtown Baton Rouge.

When is the pub crawl held? The date changes from year to year based on the LSU Football schedule.

How can I get tickets? Tickets are sold at Fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium Krewe Members at the Full and Forever Moon Levels will receive a 20% discount on tickets.

Why do I have to give my cell phone number? Zombies will be texted updates throughout the night so that everyone knows when it is time to horde to the next location.

What are the costume contest categories? Funniest Zombie, Scariest Zombie, Best Zombie Couple, Best Zombie Group

When will the contest winners be notified? Winners will be notified that night and will receive their trophies at the Fifolet Awards Brunch. Any winners who cannot attend the brunch should make arrangements to pick up their trophies. 

What should I wear? A Halloween costume which allows you to comfortably run or walk.

Can children attend? Yes, children may enter any category of the Fifolet 5k.

What are the race categories? 1 Mile Fun Run, Regular 5k, and Pumpkin 5k. All categories are costumed races. The Pumpkin category is for runners who wish to carry a pumpkin while they run.

Do I have to walk or run; can I ride my bike or roller skate instead? Yes, you must walk or run.

Can I push my child in a stroller? No, strollers are not allowed.

Do I need to supply my own pumpkin? No, pumpkins will be supplied at packet pickup.

What entertainment can I expect? There will be live music and contests in the Fifolet Market all day after the race in the morning. Additionally, the Fifolet Halloween Parade will roll by at 4pm.

Where is the race held? The race route is an “out and back” on the Mississippi River Levee with the start/finish line by the USS Kidd. 

When is the race held? The date changes from year to year based on the LSU Football schedule.

How can I get register? Registration is located at Fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium Krewe Members at the Full and Forever Moon Levels will receive a 20% discount on tickets.

Can I register a team? Yes, the team with the most participants will win a prize.

What is a Team Captain? The Team Captain is the point of contact for the 5k planners. All 5k information will be given to the Team Captain for dissemination to the remainder of the team. The Team Captain should provide their email address and cell phone number at checkout.

Can I put my pumpkin in a stroller or backpack? No, all pumpkins must be carried in your hands.

When will the race winners be notified? Winners will be announced immediately following the race and will receive their trophies at the Fifolet Awards Brunch. Any winners who cannot attend the brunch should make arrangements to pick up their trophies. 

Where is the Fifolet Market located? In Downtown Baton Rouge at the Riverfront Plaza (between the USS Kidd and the LASM).

When is the market held? The date changes from year to year based on the LSU Football schedule.

Is there a fee to attend the market? No, this is a free event.

Are there activities for children? Yes, each vendor tent will have candy for Trick or Treaters. There is also a station for pumpkin painting, face painters, and other activities for kids.

What entertainment can I expect? Live music and other performances will be on the stage throughout the day.

How does the Pumpkin Carving Contest work? Register in advance at Fifolet.com and then drop off your carved pumpkin at 11am. Judging for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place will take place at 2pm. There are no age categories or restrictions.

How does the Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest work? Anyone age 18+ who registers at Fifolet.com and signs a waiver may participate. The person who finishes a whole pumpkin pie first without using their hands will win.

When will the contest winners be notified? Winners will be announced immediately following the Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest and judging of the Pumpkin Carving Contest. Winners will receive their trophies at the Fifolet Awards Brunch. Any winners who cannot attend the brunch should make arrangements to pick up their trophies. 

Will there be food and drinks available? Yes, food vendors will be set up and there is a beer tent for anyone age 21+ to enjoy.

Is there a fee to set up as a vendor? Yes, tents are sold at Fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium Krewe Members at the Full and Forever Moon Levels will receive a 20% discount on tent fees.

How big is the tent space?  Tent space is 10×10. You can purchase more than one space if needed. No part of displays may extend into the traffic flow of the event.

What should vendors bring?  You must bring everything you need for the day, including your own tent, tables and chairs. Set up is completely on your own so bring enough people to manage as well as any carts or dollies that may be needed. All tents must provide Halloween candy as many children Trick or Treat at the tents. All tents must be decorated for Halloween. 

Is there electricity for vendors? No, the event is outdoors on grass. Generators are OK. All potentially hazardous equipment (ie. generators, tent tethers, etc.) must be clearly marked and tied down so as not to become a safety issue.

Can I request a certain location for my tent (ie. away from the stage)? All  tent spaces will be given out on a first come, first served basis at set up the morning of the event. Please arrive early if you want a specific location.

What time is vendor set up? Set up begins at 7 a.m. 

Where do vendors unload and park? Equipment drop off is in the driveway in front of the USS Kidd (by the airplane). You must move your vehicle immediately after drop off and then set up upon your return after parking in one of the various lots, parking garages or street spaces downtown. Absolutely no parking or driving may be done in the grass by the levee.

What time can I start selling? All tents must be fully set up by 8 a.m. and remain in place until 4 p.m.

Can I take a break during the day? At least one person must be in your tent at all times.

What should I wear? Costumes are not required however they are highly encouraged. Wear something comfortable.

Can I host a contest in my tent? Contests, games, raffles, giveaways and other activities are highly encouraged but not required. Any activities of this kind must meet legal and safety requirements as set forth by the City of Baton Rouge and State of Louisiana.

What happens if something gets lost, stolen, or broken? Vendors must make provisions of the safeguarding of their own products, materials, equipment, and display at all times. 10/31 Consortium and the Fifolet Halloween Festival, nor any of its volunteers, will be responsible for loss of any material by any cause. Vendors will be held responsible for the cleaning and/or replacement of any damaged property.

When is the Fifolet Halloween Parade? No part of displays may extend into the traffic flow of the event.

What should I wear? Your favorite costume!

What should I bring? Non-perishable food donations for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Give them directly to the Food Bank truck volunteers as they pass by and lead the parade!

Is the parade kid friendly? This parade is for our entire community. All are invited and the parade is intended to be family friendly. It is written in our Rules and Regulations that vulgarity and profanity are not allowed. However, it is important for spectators to understand that there is no review process to weed out potentially offensive costumes, decorations or music. It is the nature of Halloween (and life in general) that what one finds offensive, another finds entertaining. Therefore, such a process would be futile.

Where and what is the Family Zone? This is a place for families with children to enjoy the parade away from potentially more rowdy crowds. Please refrain from drinking alcohol in this area located at the corner of Convention Street and North 7th Street. You can view the parade route HERE

Where and what is the No Scare Zone? We understand that many children can experience sensory overload in such an environment. That is why, along Main Street, music will be lowered and walking characters will not approach the crowd. You can view the parade route HERE

Where and what is the Party Zone? The parade route crosses 3rd Street twice, at Convention and at Laurel. If you want to tailgate and get a bit more rowdy, this is the area to do so. Many of the bars on 3rd Street open early for the parade crowd. You can view the parade route HERE

What can I expect to see at the parade? Decorated floats, dance groups, costumed characters, bands, and anything else you’d see in a typical Mardi Gras parade with a Halloween theme.

What is a sub-krewe? 10/31 Consortium is the krewe that puts on the parade and festival. Many members of our krewe are captains of their own sub-krewes. Sub-krewes are the groups of friends and families that have a unit in the parade together as a group and attend the gala together at a joint table.

What is a unit? This is the entry type which can be a float, marching group, band, decorated vehicles, etc. BRPD limits the number of units allowed in the parade.

What’s the difference between a dance troupe and a dance team? A dance troupe is made up of adult friends and family who dance together for fun or to raise money for charity. A dance team consists of minor students learning the art of dance from a trained instructor.

Do you have to be a member of 10/31 Consortium to be in the Fifolet Halloween Parade? No, anyone can register at Fifolet.com. 10/31 Consortium Krewe Members at the Full and Forever Moon Levels will receive a 20% discount on entry fees.

What is a Sub-krewe Captain? The Sub-krewe Captain is the point of contact for the parade planners. All parade information will be given to the Captain for dissemination to the remainder of the sub-krewe. Please see our Rules and Regulations for Captain Responsibilities.
